A Video From Inside Project Walk

Apart from the usual blog articles, Simone and I are experimenting with video and audio during the next month at Project Walk. The following link  is our first video taken on an Iphone and uploaded directly to YouTube. I’ll try to get some audio podcasts up here also when I work out how to use AudioBoo on my Ipad.

Mark, you really are an inspiration. You asked what people think about Project Walk and your aspirations and I say go go go. I commented before on an earlier post – when I found out about your accident I googled you and found your blog. I’ve been following your story for a long time now, since I first saw you in Trinity with your dog and on the Late Late one night. I was horrified to learn about your accident as were many I’m sure but you are clearly fighting this latest challenge. You are in this stranger’s thoughts and prayers. I’m going to continue checking in on your progress as I’m rooting for you all the way. Wishing you much happiness and success in sunny California and for the times when the struggle seems too much, remember that you are amazing. In fact, quite simply, try not to forget that ever.

    Mark

Almost exactly a year ago, you spoke to a completely rapt audience of Directors and Staff of the 49 County Sports Partnerships in Nottingham. Along with Chris Brindley, who reminded us that we didn’t want to become Woolworths! you captivated us all and made us all realise that whilst our challenges are tough, they are nothing compared to those you face. I was also lucky enough to have a chat with you afterwards about your South Pole journey.

A year on, and we are meeting again and all of us in the room – there were well over 300 attending – were truly shocked and saddened to hear about your accident and resulting injuries. I cannot even begin to imagine the range of emotions you have felt and had to deal with but, having read your blog, you remain a shining example to us all and a true embodiment of the strength of the human spirit. Your courage, and in particular your absolute determinationm to beat this latest challenge, is something that is truly humbling. You remind us all that it would be easy to give up, wallow in self pity or become bitter and angry. But you have chosen a better course. Once again you are saying – life’s for living and I want all of it!

I know I speak for all of us who heard you last year and for all 49 CSP’s when I say – we wish you a complete as speedy recovery and we really hope you take strength and support from the huge number of people who are willing you to succeed in your latest race!

    With sincere best wishes

    Hi Mark,

Just watched this. I am still smiling. Very very good. Simone – if that is you behind the camera – super work – very steady and you held the shot for a long time. Those extra seconds matter when making an edit, as you probably know. Thinking of you both.

    Mark,
It was so wonderful to log on this morning to catch up with your progress, expecting to hear of yet another set back and then to see you up off your back, smiling from ear to ear and working those muscles, I am really happy for both you and Simone. And I would say embrace Project walk with all your fighting heart, conventional wisdom has very often been proven wrong. And if anyone can do it you can. Take care, Cian.

    Mark,
    Keep on pushin’ thru’ !!!
You are a great role model for anyone who is feeling down or wallowing in self-pity. Hope all goes well for the future. Good to see you still retain that sense of humour and fighting spirit.

    take care,
